NASA Lifts 3-on-3 Title

NASA International College has clinched the title of Nobel Cup 2nd National 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in women.  The  final held at the covered hall of the Dasharath Stadium on June 30 , NASA thrashed Nobel 18-9 with the help of seven points from Samikshya Neupane. NASA took a 2-0 lead in the first minute of the game and continued it till the end of the first period when the score was 6-4. Neupane scored four points in the second period as NASA secured an easy win. Neupane was adjudged the Most-Valuable-Player (MVP) of the tournament. 

NASA is National basketball champion in the Men's category while girls team is 1st runner up of the same title. The girls team of NASA has lifted more than 10 titles in past one year.  "We have played some 12 competitions and stood first in almost all the college level competitions, " said NASA player Ronahi Limbu. 
Earlier, Nobel had advanced into the final after its opponent and defending champion Trinity College was ineligible to play in the match following the dismissal of three of its players. Each of the three players conceded four fouls by the end of the first period. Nobel was announced winner after Trinity failed to field a minimum of two players on the court. 

NASA registered a 13-12 narrow margin victory over NIMS for the final spot earlier on Thursday. NASA took a two-point lead in the first period to score 7-5, which was enough for the win. NIMS took the second period 7-6 but lagged behind by a point for the victory. 

In the men´s final, National beat Liverpool College 18-14. Bikash Gurung scored nine points for the winning team. Liverpool leveled the score in the first period 7-7. But National took the second period 11-7 to seal the match. Krishna Gurung of National Campus was declared the MVP of the tournament in the men´s category. 
In order to qualify for the final, National had earlier defeated Morgan College 21-20. National took a six-point lead in the first period with a score of 11-5. The eventual winner had a close shave in the second period of the semifinal as Morgan bounced back with 15-10 but was short of one point for victory. 

Liverpool overpowered defending champion VS Niketan 17-11 in the semifinal. Liverpool took first the period 11-5 and leveled the second 6-6 for the win.
In the third place play off, NIMS beat Trinity 18-7 in the women´s category while Morgan overcame VS Niketan 18-15 in the men´s category. Trinity and VS were the defending champions their respective categories.

The winners, runners-up, third position holders and MVPs were awarded with medals and trophy. Education Minister Gangalal Tuladhar, Nepal Olympic Committee Secretary Jeevan Ram Shrestha and Nepal Basketball Association president Lama Tendi Sherpa gave away the prizes.

ASA Wins ACPA CUP Cricket
In yet another achievement, NASA International College has clinched the title of the Hotel Devotee ACPA-Cup Cricket from the final competition held on Jan 29, 2011.  NASA overcame the challenge of Ramraja  RR College of Kalaiya by four wickets in the final. Along with the trophy NASA also pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000.
